Photo-A-Day

I need to do my best at ceasing to be lazy... Seriously. This is my attempt. I've found that my problem with things is that if it looks harder than extremely easy, I quit. This is how I've done everything: Fitness, health, activities, photography... the list goes on. I'm making several changes in my life, one being my Fitness (starting to run or do a P90X workout every day). The other is to start taking more pictures. I'm not going to get any better and I'm not going to learn anything by leaving the camera in the bag.

Yesterday I started taking pictures every day, trying to find new subjects to photograph every day. One day I may take a walk through the neighborhood and try to find something interesting. Below are two photographs: one from yesterday, and one from today. I may not be able to do the post-processing and uploading every single day, but I'll at least try to take at least some pictures of one subject every day.

I'd like to get better at getting sharper shots, not blurry like I have been getting. Sometimes I can hit the nail on the head, but I've got no clue as to how I managed it. I know I need to take classes, but other things come first (like paying off debt!).

The picture above is of my baby, my 2.5-year-old, 17.5lb "miniature" dachshund, Bruiser. I took this photo on 11 July 2010. I opened the window to let him look out (Which I usually never do because he barks at everything. The light coming in through the blinds created good lighting for a puppy-portrait. :)

I took the photo above on 12 July 2010. This photo is of my view from my back sliding-glass door. The clouds outside were really pretty, beautiful even! I love it when the clouds are fluffy like this! Much better than a boring clear blue sky.

During this session, I got to play with my aperture and shutter settings to get a photo that didnt have any blown highlights by using the highlight viewing mode on the camera. The photo seen here didnt have any blown highlights. I did a bit of post-processing to get the colors to pop. The only thing I didnt like is that I couldnt fix the fact that the sun was behind the fence, so the fence is dark. Maybe I should crop it to where only the top of the fence is showing, cutting out the burned grass?
